OMSI Science Pub - Smoke and Mirrors

OMSI Science Pub returns with "Smoke and Mirrors," an evening exploring illusion and perception. This event typically features a guest speaker from the scientific community, diving into a specific topic in an accessible, engaging way. Expect a deep dive into the science behind how we see, how we're tricked, or perhaps even the physics of smoke and reflections, presented with a casual, pub-style atmosphere. This edition takes place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at McMenamins Mission Theater in Portland. The Mission Theater offers a unique setting for these talks, combining a historic movie house vibe with pub amenities, making it a good fit for anyone interested in science communication, curious about optical phenomena, or looking for an alternative to traditional lectures.
