North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival

The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival brings a detailed display of traditional Chinese lanterns to Cary. This annual event features hundreds of handcrafted lanterns, often depicting animals, mythological figures, and natural landscapes, illuminated to create a walking experience. It's a chance to see a specific cultural art form presented on a large scale. This particular showing on Wednesday, December 16, 2026, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre offers an evening viewing of the festival. The amphitheatre grounds are transformed for this event, providing ample space for visitors to wander through the various exhibits. It's a family-friendly outing, and generally appeals to those interested in cultural exhibitions and light art.
