    About Downstate at Booth Theatre

The Booth Theatre is presenting Downstate, a compelling play by Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris. This production delves into complex themes surrounding sex offenders, the justice system, and community, following a group of men living together in a halfway house in downstate Illinois. Norris is known for his sharp, often uncomfortable, examinations of social issues, and this work is no exception, promising a thought-provoking evening of contemporary drama. You can catch Downstate at the historic Booth Theatre in New York City on Saturday, November 28, 2026. The Booth is a classic Broadway house, offering an intimate setting well-suited for a character-driven play like this. It's a good fit for theatergoers interested in new works that spark conversation and challenge perspectives.
