Detroit Symphony Orchestra - Kodo One

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents Kodo One, a unique collaboration that brings together the precision of classical orchestral performance with the powerful, rhythmic drumming of Japan's Kodo ensemble. This program explores a fascinating dialogue between Western symphonic tradition and the ancient art of taiko, offering a fresh perspective on both musical forms. It's a chance to see the DSO push beyond its usual repertoire, creating a distinctive soundscape. This special performance takes place on Tuesday, March 9, 2027, at Orchestra Hall within the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. Expect a full orchestral setup, but with the added visual and sonic impact of the Kodo drummers on stage. It's an event likely to appeal to classical music fans looking for something new, as well as those interested in world music and innovative cross-cultural artistic projects.
