Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Honeck Conducts Bates & Mahler 1

This evening with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra features conductor Manfred Honeck leading a program that pairs Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 with Mason Bates’s ‘The B-Sides,’ a work known for its blend of orchestral and electronic elements. It’s an interesting juxtaposition, placing a cornerstone of the Romantic repertoire alongside a contemporary piece that often explores themes of technology and the digital age. Honeck Conducts Bates & Mahler 1 takes place Saturday, February 27, 2027, at the Chicago Symphony Center. This program should appeal to those who appreciate both traditional classical works and more modern orchestral compositions that push boundaries. The CSO’s main hall is a classic setting for this kind of performance.
