Canadian Opera Company - Ariadne Auf Naxos

The Canadian Opera Company presents Richard Strauss's Ariadne Auf Naxos, a clever work that juxtaposes high art with commedia dell'arte. This opera explores themes of fidelity and artistic integrity, starting with a comedic prologue where two performing troupes are forced to combine their acts. The main opera then unfolds, blending serious mythological drama with playful improvisation. This performance takes place on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. The venue is known for its excellent acoustics and grand scale, making it suitable for a full-fledged opera production. It's a good fit for those who appreciate both classical music and theatrical storytelling with a touch of wit.
