August Wilson's Seven Guitars

August Wilson's Seven Guitars is a significant revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's work. Set in 1948 Pittsburgh, the play explores the lives of seven characters grappling with dreams, disillusionment, and the blues, following a musician's return home. It's a rich ensemble piece, characteristic of Wilson's profound storytelling and his examination of the Black experience in 20th-century America. This production runs at Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in New York City, a space known for its intimate and focused theatrical presentations. Theatergoers who appreciate deeply layered narratives, powerful dialogue, and historical context will find this play particularly engaging. The performance on Monday, November 9, 2026, offers an opportunity to see a cornerstone of American drama.
