Second Saturdays | Your Place Is at This Table
About
Midlife does not arrive with an instruction manual. (Wouldn’t that be something if it did?)
What it does bring is a long list of good questions—about hormones, money, sleep, eldercare for aging parents, movement, meaning. Not a lot of answers, and a strange kind of loneliness in sitting with them alone.
Second Saturdays is a place to bring those questions to the table (literally). Once a month, we gather over a nourishing, predominantly locally-sourced dinner in South Burlington and welcome a resource guest whose expertise lives smack dab in the middle of whatever we midlife women are often silently wondering about.
This is not a class, and it is not a program. It is a table—one set specifically for you.
Your place is at this table. Come hungry for dinner—and for something more.
so, what actually happens at dinner?
Each Second Saturday, we welcome one resource guest: an expert in a domain that matters to women in this season of life—endocrinology, financial planning, eldercare, acupuncture, breathwork, movement, and beyond.
She won’t lecture you. She won’t pitch you. She’ll simply be there, at the table, sharing her wisdom and answering the questions you haven’t quite gotten around to asking yet.
Think of Second Saturdays as a slow, delicious way of building a Rolodex (remember those?) for your personal life—a list of women whom you've already met and already trust—for when you’re ready to act on whatever part of your wellness journey needs your attention.
"What made the evening truly special, though, was the atmosphere Liza created. It was a space filled with laughter, meaningful conversation, and a genuine sense of connection among a group of women. It served as a beautiful reminder of how powerful and fulfilling it can be to gather, share, and simply enjoy one another’s company."
a bigger table, a beautiful partnership
Second Saturdays is held in collaboration with Common Roots, whose mission around food equity, education, and sustainable agriculture aligns deeply with this work. Because of our partnership, we now have:
- A beautiful, central South Burlington space with plenty of parking
- Room for up to 12 women at each dinner
- A full industrial kitchen and everything required to feed a table of 12 properly
- Fresh, local produce from Common Roots and the farms in their orbit
- Please note that as a participant, your email will be shared with Common Roots; you can always unsubscribe (and I hope you won't—they're doing amazing work in our community and could use your help!)
"Go, especially if you're feeling alone or like everyone else is doing fine while you're struggling.
Delicious food, fantastic company, and therapeutic laughter."
who’s this table for?
Second Saturdays is for you if you:
- Are navigating midlife and want real answers, not a sales pitch
- Crave community as much as expertise
- Have a running list of “someday I need to look into that” questions about this season of life
- Would rather build relationships with the right guides and the right companions than google your way through this season alone
- Want to bring your own wisdom to the table and go home with someone else’s, too
"It was so nourishing to be able to share (and laugh!) in community. It reminded me
that there are common threads for most of us in how we experience this phase of life,
and it's so validating to be reminded that we're all making our way through together."
what to expect
- A delicious, shared, seasonal meal, sourced largely from Common Roots and their partner farms
- An evening’s resource guest, introduced (and not put on a pedestal—I specifically look for women whose values align with mine: a guide on the side, not a sage on the stage.)
- Free-form conversation—no lecture, no agenda, no pitch
- Time to ask the questions you have been meaning to ask someone—anyone—who actually knows
- Home by 8:30pm (we checked)

meet your host
Liza Baker is a health coach, women’s soul care advocate, cookbook author, and former caterer who guides midlife women toward living their wellness rather than performing it—rooted in intuition, alignment, and the wisdom this season of life has to offer. She brings her passion, knowledge, and experience (including her culinary skills) to the table to help you claim your seat, ask your questions, and use your glorious midlife powers for good, most importantly for you although we know your community and the world will benefit with a healthier, more lit up you in it.
