About Dummy Ache ALBUM RELEASE SHOW w/ Spirit Hotel, Kong Moon, & Isaac Raven at The Press Room

“Dummy Ache’s 'Shakers' is an exceptional example of real-ass indie rock as god intended, which is to say that the melodies are forlorn, the music is both ambitious and humble, and it all gets loud as f**k."

The members of Dummy Ache have known each other for about 15 years, having all spent their twenties and early thirties cutting their teeth in noisy Brooklyn-based indie bands. Guitarist Max Goransson (Quiet Loudly, Clouder), bassist Sam Rich (Miniboone), and drummer Rich Digregorio (Gunfight!, Natureboy) all shared multiple stages in the ‘10s, typically in ramshackle DIY venues held together with duct tape and prayers.

Like Snake Plissken before them, Max, Sam, and Rich all ended up escaping New York in their own time, each settling down in coastal New England. It was time for each of them to be in a band again. Thank goodness they had friends nearby.

Despite never having played together, their many years of camaraderie and shared sensibilities resulted in immediate alchemy. It was as if they should have been playing together all along. Shakers, their debut LP, was recorded in Portland, Maine over the course of two days at the end of August, 2026 at Acadia Recording Company, engineered and mixed by Todd Hutchinson with Alice Anderson assisting.

Shakers is an exceptional example of real-ass indie rock as god intended, which is to say that the melodies are forlorn, the music is both ambitious and humble, and it all gets loud as fuck. You’ll hear echoes of Red House Painters, Yo La Tengo, Galaxie 500, and Dinosaur Jr, which makes sense, because again, we’re talking about middle-aged guys who came of age in Brooklyn bands fifteen years ago. But this is no derivative, regressive, weekend warrior claptrap. The songs on Shakers are the products of hard-earned sensitivity, wisdom, depth, generosity, artistry, and joy. It’s the sound of old friends opening their hearts to each other and inviting you to join in.

Spirit Hotel are a Salem, Massachusetts band led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Leila May Hauck, blending shoegaze and dream pop with darker strains of psychedelia, post-punk, and goth. What began as Hauck’s recording project in 2023 grew into a full band built around reverb-heavy guitars, Farfisa, hypnotic rhythms, and restrained, noir-tinged vocals. Their 2026 album Rêve, released on Little Cloud Records, expands that sound with sitar, dense walls of guitar, and a stronger psychedelic streak.

Kong Moon are a Portsmouth, New Hampshire power trio whose melodic rock pulls from ’90s alternative, indie, noise, and psychedelia. Guitarist/vocalist Barclay Ellis Close II, bassist/keyboardist Jason Probert, and drummer Dave Newman move easily between atmospheric passages and heavier, guitar-driven arrangements, with comparisons ranging from Sonic Youth and R.E.M. to Quicksand and Built to Spill. Their catalog includes 2020’s self-titled debut, 2024’s You’re Running Out of Things to Own, and their latest release, 2026’s Enchanted Nights.

Isaac Raven is a Portland, Maine indie-rock artist whose music blends dream pop and shoegaze with angular guitars, melodic songwriting, and bursts of heavier noise. Performing with an eponymous four-piece band, Raven has become a regular presence in Southern Maine’s DIY scene, with recent releases including Starting Over, Over and Over, the live WMPG set, and 2026 singles “Brain Rotted Freak” and “Domino.” MaineCoastLife singled out the band’s live shows and described “Domino” as moving from a syncopated guitar figure into a wall-of-sound chorus.
