Cambria Firefighters Pickleball Fundraiser

Cambria Pickleball by the Sea is hosting a non-profit fundraising event to buy our local Cambria Firefighters a critically needed, life-saving Rescue Watercraft & accessories. Yes, Cambria Firefighters perform water rescues!

Please join and support our Firefighters Pickleball Fundraiser event:

• Donate money online, by mail, or at the event to help our firefighters
• Participate in the fun and festivities: games, food, auctions, and 4 different pickleball tournaments
• Donate items or services to be used for auctions / prizes (contact Melanie Nankivell: melanie.nankivell+donate@gmail.com)

We are accepting monetary donations online (credit card) and at the event (cash, check, and credit cards)

• All donations are going to a 501.c.3 non-profit
• All the raised money will be used to purchase a Rescue Watercraft (RWC), the tow-behind sled, a trailer, and related items
• Donations may be tax deductible
• Your receipt acknowledges your donation to a 501.c.3

Four different tournament sessions:

• Recreational level play on Saturday morning 8a-12p and afternoon 1p-5p
• Competitive level play on Sunday morning 7:30a-12p and afternoon 1p-5p
• Register for 1 or more sessions before they fill up
• Each session offers a brief warm-up period, an explanation of game format, and a quick review of key rules
• All registrants will receive a discount code from one of sponsors, Six Zero

 

Session 1:  Recreational Round Robin (all skill levels)

• Date and time: Sat 8a – 12p
• Registration: $50 per person (or donate more)
• Game format: Recreational round robin, random partner assigned per game
• Max players: 36
• Each player: play 6 games + 3 byes
• Scoring: Side out scoring, 1st to 11 win by 1
• Prizes:
  • 3 random drawings
  • 1st place player: medal + unique trophy
  • 2nd place player: medal
  • 3rd place player: medal

 

Session 2: Recreational Team Play (all skill levels)

• Date and time: Sat 1p – 5p
• Registration: $50 per person (or donate more)
• Game format: Recreational team play; all registered players will be randomly assigned to a team; 3 players per team; each team plays 3 games against another team per hour wherein each team rotates through 3 unique partner pairs (e.g., game 1 John+Steve, game 2 John+Mary, game 3 Steve+Mary)
• Max players: 36 players (12 teams)
• Total games: 9 games per team
• Each player: play 6 games + 3 byes
• Scoring: Side out scoring, 1st to 11 win by 1
• Prizes: 3 random drawings

 

Session 3: Competitive Money-Ball (partner needed - 4.0+ skill level)

• Date and time: Sun 7:30a – 12p
• Registration: $150 per person
• Game format: Competitive fixed-partner money-ball
• Max teams: 12 (24 max players)
• Each team: play 11 games (no byes, no medal rounds, only game stats)
• Scoring: Side out scoring, 1st to 11 win by 1
• Prizes (total dollar amount assumes 24 registered players):
  • 1st place team: $1,000 + medal and unique trophy for each player
  • 2nd place team: $500 + medal for each player
  • 3rd place team: $300 + medal for each player

 

Session 4: Competitive Round Robin (3.5+ skill level)

• Date and time: Sun 1p – 5p
• Registration: $70 per person (or donate more)
• Game format: Competitive round robin, random partner assigned per game
• Max players: 27
• Each player: play 8 games + 1 bye (no medal round, only game stats)
• Scoring: Side out scoring, 1st to 11 win by 1
• Prizes:
  • 1st place player: medal + unique trophy
  • 2nd place player: medal
  • 3rd place player: medal

 

 

Pickleball Bingo

• 8a – 5p each day
• $10 per bingo card per pickleball game
• Purchase up to 10 bingo cards per pickleball game
• Game coordinator will translate live pickleball game play events into numbers on a bingo card
• Prizes awarded to 1 winner per pickleball game

 

Target Practice

• 8a – 5p each day
• $10 for 5 balls
• Hit targets on our backboard for points
• Different targets are worth different points
• Highest point total at 12p and 4:30p each day wins a prize
• Play as many times as you want to improve your score

 

Bottoms Up!

• 8a – 5p each day
• Live auction yourself
• Stand facing our backboard and stick out your bottom :-)
• Highest bidder gets 5 pickleballs to target your bottom from ~20 feet away

 

Firefighters Pickleball

• 12 – 1p each day
• Interact and socialize with Firefighters at the event
• Have fun playing pickleball with a Firefighter
• Live auction for each pickleball-playing Firefighter
• Highest bidder partners and plays with his/her Firefighter

 

• 8a – 4:30p each day
• Each day offers something new and different
• Auction items may offer a “buy now” price for anyone who wants to bypass bidding and instantly buy a must-have item
• Bidding: Highest bidding winners announced each day around 4:30p
• Winning bidders can pay via cash, check, or credit card

Sailboat Watercolor Painting (value: $600)

• A variety of snacks available all day, each day (specialty baked goods, fruit, etc.)
• Lunch options available each day (some by donation, others by purchase)
• Monetary donations encouraged and appreciated in support of a great cause

 

 

• This event is being held on school grounds
• No pets allowed at the event
• No smoking, nor consumption of alcohol
• Limited free parking on premises; once full, attendees can park for free on the street or other nearby retail parking lots
• We expect good sportsmanship from all pickleball players; any misconduct may result in game forfeiture or tournament disqualification
