Bailey McLaa (born Bailey Elizabeth McLaa Boughton) is a Texas Country/Red Dirt artist with a Country/Jazz appeal. Born in Denton, Texas, McLaa was raised in Argyle, Texas and began playing country music at a young age. McLaa took piano lessons when she was 5 years old, but only learned the basics. She attended Argyle Elementry and Argyle Middle School. By the end of 7th grade her mother took her out of pulic school and started homeschooling her, to further her music career. In 2008, McLaa taught herself how to play the guitar, on her Grandfather’s old beat up guitar that he had bought at a garage sale. She began writing her own songs not long after she retaught herself the piano, later that year. In 2009, McLaa started playing mulitple private events. McLaa found interest in ukuleles, so she taught herself on a pineapple ukulele in 2010. McLaa graduated a year and a half early in December of 2011. On September 15, 2012, McLaa won the East Texas Battle of the Bands, playing a solo acoustic act. By October of 2012, McLaa had 50 completed songs, with over 15 more started. McLaa performed live on the radio when she was only 17, on BigStar97.com. McLaa has played at a variety of venues such as, Love and War, Grapevine, TX, Thirsty Armadillo, Fort Worth, TX, The Back Porch, Kilgore, TX, Outskirts, Wichita Falls, TX, Basement Bar, Fort Worth, TX. She has also shared the stage with other Texas Red Dirt artists such as TC Fambro, Westbound 21, Tyler James, Steven Staley, Danny Reichle, Scott Hall, and many more. In November 2012, McLaa will be sharing the stage with Stoney LaRue.
