Ventura County Fusion
About
Based in Ventura, California, the Ventura County Fusion is a widely successful, world-class soccer franchise, and participant in the Western Conference’s Southwest Division of the Premier Development League (PDL), an official operation of United Soccer Leagues (USL). Now in its eighth year of operation, Fusion has been a trendsetter in the western US, winning three division titles, reaching the playoffs for six consecutive seasons, and claiming the PDL Championship in 2009. The Fusion’s roster includes members of the U.S.’s Under 20 National Team, players from well-respected NCAA Division I university programs, and highly touted standouts from international squads throughout the world. In addition to PDL play, the Fusion has competed in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup each of the last five years, and in 2014 became the first PDL franchise to win a US Open Cup match in four consecutive years. Over the years, the Fusion have taken on some of the top teams in England in exhibition matches, meeting Manchester City, Everton, and Swansea, among others, in Southern California-based friendly games. In July 2014, Fusion earned arguably its most famous victory, beating one of Britian's great clubs, Rangers FC (Glasgow Scotland), 3-1 in a friendly match at Ventura College.
