Thank you to this year's Event Sponsor:
Check out what previous attendees had to say!
"Great event!! Was great being able to try some things from places we might not otherwise try."
"I live close enough to Uptown that I should have visited some of these places before, but this event really allowed me to sample and see how great the food choices really are in Uptown...I really had no idea! And I will be going back. Do it again next year please."
"It was a great way to meet neighbors and sample local businesses. Everything was so tasty."
"I just moved to Uptown and it was like a crash course on the area. I really liked that it was kind of a walking tour, which is unique for these "Taste" events. Will definitely be back out there next year."
FAQs
Once I've purchased my ticket, does it cost extra for the tastings?
No, the price of the ticket includes EVERYTHING - tastings at each stop mentioned above.
Can I pick up my event passport early?
Yes. Early check-in will be held on Wednesday, September 25 from 5:00pm-7:30pm (Uptown Arcade - 4830 N. Broadway) to allow participants to pick up their passport early and start anywhere along the route they choose on the day of the event.
Can I choose my own route within the participating businesses?
Yes. Once you receive your event passport, you are free to go to any participating business in any order.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No, but a few locations will be serving liquor samples to those who are ages 21+ so please bring an ID.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
This event is accessible via the Lawrence and Wilson Red Line stations in addition to CTA bus routes #22, #36, #78, and #81.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, we will be checking people in by name.
Why don't I see my favorite Uptown restaurant as a participant?
This event is put on by Business Partners, The Chamber for Uptown, a local nonprofit organization that supports local businesses and organizations. Participation is limited to members of the organization. We extended an invitation to all of our members to participate and invited other food businesses to join Business Partners if they were interested in participating in the Taste of Uptown, but not all businesses chose to participate. Additionally, we aim to make the route of this event to be easily walkable, therefore some businesses are “hosted” at other businesses. If you’d like your favorite restaurant to participate, please mention it to them or let us know.
Why don't I see more Argyle business represented?
Along with Uptown United, we spend two months every summer hosting the Argyle Night Market, a weekly event that draws over 40,000 people to the area and both highlights and promotes the many great restaurants along Argyle. Again, we did ask all of our member businesses on Argyle to participate, but not all chose to participate. We do hope to add an Argyle route to this event soon.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Contact Greg Carroll at greg@exploreuptown.org or at 773-878-1184.
