We are sliding into August early, with another Summer edition of our free monthly showcase! Our August 2nd MWABC will feature music from three talented local acts, bringing breezy, aggressive, and psychadelic pop sounds directly to your ears!

Luke Sweeney
https://lukesweeney.bandcamp.com/album/mothers-day

San Francisco poet, composer, and guitarist Luke Sweeney picks up a variety of stylings from forebearers such as Marc Bolan, Al Green, and Stephen Malkmus like pieces of pavement bubblegum to build a bridge into new, unforged territories of psychedelic pop. This journey is sustained by a palpable substance in the hapless escape artists, hopeless romantics, and enduring spiritual images he embraces and celebrates along the way. A “pillar of San Francisco's garage-psych community” (TheBayBridged), Sweeney branched out from previous outfits to release his own material in 2013, resulting thus far in two critically acclaimed albums.

Waterstrider
http://waterstridermusic.com/

Take the train from San Francisco to Oakland. Walk through the parks and by the lake, the places where the turbulence of city life blurs into the serenity of redwood groves and peaceful birdsong. There you will find Waterstrider. Woven through with pop sensibilities, their songs are imbued with a sense of environment, with a weight and a presence that ushers you into the little worlds they create. Waterstrider, now a rumbling and thundering five-piece, is led by Nate Salman, whose transfixing falsetto is at the core of the band’s sound – it rides atop a tidal wave of booming toms and congas, twists itself around guitar licks and then rises, alone, to new heights.

Circuits
https://circuitssf.bandcamp.com/releases

The buzzing power pop of San Francisco's Circuits is exciting music bounding with energy - a soundtrack to jumping incessantly and dancing furiously. Recorded in the Spring of 2016 soon after the band formed, Demo is their first batch of songs and a polaroid of what the band started as.
