Veteran thespian Martha T. Lipton, the brainchild of local drag and theater artist Evan Johnson, presents: Acting Like An Actress: Martha's Salute to the Stage! The culmination of 30+ years of Martha's acting, this hilarious and sentimental evening is part seminar, part drama class and part demonstration. Have you ever wondered,"What is acting?" or "Why do we do it?" Just ask Martha! Audience members are invited to slap on a name tag and play along in this interactive character-driven spectacle! Martha is pulling out all her props and dusting off her costume chest! She's even burning a CD of sound effects, so get ready for a rip-roaring, awkwardly fun, evening of camp entertainment. Come kick off San Francisco's Pride Week, bring a quirky date, and wear some clothes you can move in! Held exclusively at OASIS, in the charming front Fez Room.

Martha TLipton (the failed actress) hails from Fresno, CA and teaches private acting classes in her paid parking space (she doesn't drive). Evan Johnson is a graduate of Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre (2006), where he studied ensemble devised theatre, mask performance and clowning. Professionally, Evan teaches stagecraft to young adults and seniors at Harvey Milk Center for the Arts and is the creator/performer of BARN OWL (CounterPulse), Don't Feel: The Death of Dahmer (Z Space) and Pansy (New Conservatory Theatre Center). Martha regularly appears at Piano Fight, where she hosts "So You Think You Can Lap Dance?" produced by Modern on Command. She’s also appeared at The Stud, Oasis, DeYoung Museum, Red Hots Burlesque, Shotgun Players, CounterPulse and New Conservatory Theater Center. She is always available for corporate events, singing telegrams and birthday parties.
