On Saturday, June 14 at Tiato in Santa Monica, Firestone Walker Brewing Co. and Food GPS present the second annual Father’s Day CollaBREWtive Brunch, which features an expanded lineup of eight brewery-roaster pairings, as well as deliciously eclectic bites offered by a dozen notable chefs at individual food stations. In addition to the eight one-off coffee beers, breweries will also offer a second beer from their main lineups, and coffee roasters are brewing coffee. BREWERY + COFFEE ROASTER COLLABORATIONS (in addition to one beer from each brewery's core line-up)

  • The Bruery + Tierra Mia Coffee "Rice & Beans" is a beer inspired by coffee infused horchata. Notes of sweet rice, vanilla and cinnamon play with the bite of earthy, hand roasted coffee for a balanced, modern take on the Central American classic.
  • El Segundo Brewing Co. + LAMILL Coffee "Bourbon and Bliss: bourbon barrel aged Standard Crude American Imperial Stout blended with Cold process Bliss Espresso blend. About 6 parts to 1. Around an 8% beer, the characteristics of both blend together seamlessly. We will be putting the final blend together just the week before as to preserve as much of the coffee aromatics as possible. This is also our first barrel aged release, so we are super excited!"
  • Firestone Walker Brewing Co. + Intelligentsia Coffee "Parabajava is an ongoing series exploring the infusion of coffee into Parabola.  This coffee lends espresso, roasty caramel, toffee,  baker’s chocolate, molasses to the big rich character of Parabola.  The complimentary flavors pair well with Parabola’s rich malt and smokey oak bourbon notes.  Complex, smooth and seamlessly integrated, this beer is nothing short of amazing."
  • Golden Road Brewing + Handsome Coffee Roasters Surfliner IPA with Handsome Coffee: "Inspired by the locally roasted coffee beans from our friends at Handsome Coffee Roasters, this special edition of our Surfliner IPA features San Adolfo beans known for their tart notes of blackberry and deep cherry with a touch of vanilla. Brewmaster Jesse Houck adds whole roasted coffee beans in the dry-hop to lightly infuse this hop-forward ale with light hibiscus-like aromatics and citrusy zing. The result is a complex yet balanced amalgamation of hops and coffee with a light malt backbone anchored by the stone-fruit and piney notes of Simcoe hops." Sour Joe: American Sour Ale with Coffee grown by José Wagner. Full bodied and complex, yet bright and refreshing, this collaboration explores a new direction in the marriage of coffee and beer.
•Aromas of cocoa, molasses, and warm spices with hints of dried fruit and berries…
•Flavors reminiscent of chocolate covered cherries with notes of toasted nuts, spicy oak and stone fruit…
•A clean, tart finish leaves your palate refreshed and ready to explore another sip…

  • Ladyface Ale Companie + Caffe Luxxe Redheaded Blue-Belly (10.7% ABV): "Sought-after for its singular rarity, the Redheaded Blue-Belly fills the landscapes of Los Angeles with its deep, rich call. The full-bodied characteristics of the Ladyface Blue-Belly Barleywine and Caffe Luxxe’s Testa Rossa espresso marry perfectly to create a well-balanced brew, allowing the toffee malt character of the beer and the woody, dark chocolate characteristics of the coffee to sing out. Each libation’s flavor potential is maximized separately, the Testa Rossa extracted using the unique cold-brewing process before blending with the Blue-Belly in sweet sylvan harmony."
  • Monkish Brewing Co. + Lord Windsor Roasters Shaken Hips (Beer + Coffee Cocktail): Monkish's Rosa's Hips (Belgian-style dubbel brewed with Rose Hips) and Lord Windsor's cold-brewed Rwandan coffee with lime peel, ginger, mint, and bitters
  • Smog City Brewing + Groundwork Coffee Chip Shot Coffee Porter (6.0% ABV) "We took our award winning Coffee Porter that has over 5 lbs per barrel of freshly roasted organic coffee and added orange peel, vanilla beans, and cinnamon sticks to create a decadent drink that reminds us of orange liqueur spiked chocolate truffles. Imagine drinking a chocolate orange"

This event is a tribute to dads, and a showcase for the collective talents of L.A.’s finest breweries, coffee roasters and chefs. Whether you’re a father, son or daughter, this event will have flavor to spare.

A portion of the event proceeds will go to Food Forward, a North Hollywood-based charity whose mission is to rescue and donate fresh local produce that would otherwise go to waste. Over 2 million pounds of food has been gleaned since 2009, and given to local food pantries, helping feed over 40,000 hungry Southern Californians each month.

About

Firestone Walker Brewing Company brewed its first beer in 1996 in a small facility rented from the Firestone Vineyard estate in Santa Barbara County. In 2001 owners Adam Firestone and David Walker purchased the SLO Brewing Company located in Paso Robles, CA. Firestone Walker’s ales are selectively fermented in the Firestone Union oak barrel brewing system. The Firestone Union incorporates 65-gallon, medium and heavy toast American oak barrels. Firestone Walker Brewing Company continues to grow as the palates of Americans migrate to craft beer. Our brew staff have picked up “Mid Size Brewery of the Year” at the World Beer Cup an unmatched four times. About Food GPS: Josh Lurie founded Food GPS in 2005. Since then, his Los Angeles-based website has remained dedicated to pinpointing the highest quality, best-tasting food and drink, regardless of price or cuisine, and sharing stories of people behind the flavor.
