November 1st and 2nd are one of the most important holidays of the Mexican calendar: Dia de los Muertos or the Day of the Dead, a celebration day when the souls of our deceased relatives return home to partake with the living and feed off of the essence of the food that is offered in domestic altars.

In celebration of this important Mexican holiday, we invite you to join us in a collaborative art project and community collage. From October 31 - November 2, we will have sugar skulls and art materials for our guests to paint and color in remembrance of a loved one. Each piece of individual art will be added to a collage, or alter, on the walls within the Cerveceria as a celebration of life and community.

Altars are considered one of the most important elements of Dia de los Muertos; comprised of fascinating mixtures of symbolism stemming from both native traditions and beliefs brought to Mexico by the Spanish conquistadors. Within Mexican tradition, the altar and its offerings are an invitation to our beloved deceased to be with us in remembrance and in spirit. The altar must include four basic elements coming from nature: earth, wind, water, and fire. Each one is carefully represented within the offerings.

During our Dia de los Muertos events, we will be tapping a special Marigold Venga, and will have festive music, food trucks and more. Art materials will be free for all patrons and sugar skulls will be $10 each and will include a free beer. We hope you join us as we celebrate Dia de los Muertos!
