The Amy & Freddy Experience

An evening with Amy & Freddy is truly a warm, hilarious, and musically intimate cabaret experience. Freddy’s on the piano; Amy’s out front, in the spotlight. Their charisma and warm for one another is palpable, and it extends into the audience, which is often populated with friends and guests who are already quite familiar with their show, from having seen their headlining engagements on RSVP Cruises.

Their repertoire ranges from standards, pop, Broadway, and everything in between. There’s nothing she can’t sing. Freddy’s finesse on the piano perfectly accompanies and punctuates Amy’s rich, powerful voice and uncensored, candid storytelling, both of which take the audience on a musical comedy adventure that they won’t soon forget.

One moment the audience is roaring in their seats to a spoken word anecdote, or one of Freddy’s original compositions. The next minute, they’re Amy's makeshift “Pips” for a soulful version of “Midnight Train to Georgia”. And the next moment, you can literally hear a pin drop, as Amy drops all comedic ambition, and fully immerses herself into a heart-wrenching pitch-perfect interpretation of a current Adele, Sam Smith, or Pink hit.

In a world of auto-tune and lip-sync, to hear a rich, natural, projective voice like Amy Armstrong’s is an affirmation that true vocal talent still exists!

Audiences are brought to their feet night after night by the warmth and talent of these two consummate performers. And they’re reminded again and again why it’s been said that she has “The voice of an Angel and the mouth of a sailor.”

Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen are entertainers standing out above the rest. The Originally Chicago-based “Dynamic Duo” has been captivating audiences for 22 years.

They have performed in cities coast to coast, including Los Angeles, New York, Portland, St. Louis, Key West, San Francisco, St. Paul, Seattle, Detroit, Saugatuck, Provincetown, Athens, San Diego, New Orleans, Boston, Copenhagen, Orlando, Denver, Puerto Vallarta, Ft. Lauderdale, Grand Rapids and Chicago.

They have been the opening act for several familiar names including Mary Wilson and the Supremes, Phyllis Diller, Bea Arthur, Jennifer Holiday, Judy Tenuta, Lois Bromfeld, and Judy Gold.

For 17 years, they have been the headline and mainstage act for RSVP Cruise Lines and their many sailings across the globe. RSVP hired Amy and Freddy as their 2006-2009 “Entertainment Ambassadors.”

Originally from Detroit, Amy has been a professional entertainer since she was a young child. Her powerful and soulful voice mesmerizes listeners while her hilarious and risqué humor keeps them doubled over in laughter. Amy made her home in Chicago in 1995 and quickly became one of the Windy City’s hottest talents.

Freddy, Amy’s pianist and music director, has been a professional musician for over twenty-five years. After moving from St. Louis in 1995, Freddy successfully made his name as one of Chicago’s most well known pianists. When he’s not performing with Amy, Freddy works as a freelance musician.

Amy and Freddy have produced four very successful albums; Amy and Freddy- the debut, Life is a Cabaret, Naturally Flawless and Feeling Good. All of the recordings have been recognized nationally, and have received rave reviews.

Amy’s beautiful voice, edgy humor and quick wit, combined with Freddy’s impeccable musical arrangements and sly repartee, create an evening of enjoyable and unforgettable entertainment.
