Come join us for a special new series where we combine the ambient living sounds that the Saturn venue makes with relaxing, meditative yoga by instructor Meg Coleman for a singular experience where movement and sound interact in an organic way with the building itself.
These classes will be designed to accommodate all skill levels and everyone is welcome. If you have a particular limitation or need (recent surgery or injury, pregnancy, medical condition such as heart problems or seizures) please plan to arrive to class a few minutes early to share this information with the instructor. All participants will be asked to sign a liability form and are responsible for insuring their own safety by respecting their bodies limitations and acting with care.
Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and water to stay properly hydrated. For the classes Meg will be teaching in the month of August, Meg will waive the class fee for participants and instead will ask that they make a donation ($10 suggested) to Sweet Om Alabama (http://sweetomalabama.org/) ie: Classes led by Meg Coleman in the month of August will be donation based with all proceeds going directly to Sweet Om Alabama, an organization that "seeks to cultivate the health and well being of Alabamians by mobilizing the community to bring the benefits of yoga to those who lack access". A donation of $10/person is suggested.
THE LIVING VENUE (http://www.saturnbirmingham.com/livingvenueproject): The Living Venue Audio Project is a multi-sensory reactive sound medium where various devices installed in the venue (stimulated by sound, light, motion, weather, water flow, street activity, etc.) trigger random ambient sounds, in order to make a sort of symphony of sonic activity. Think Brian Eno’s “Music for Airports” if the airports were actually the ones making the music. The project has been put together with Brian Teasley, sound engineer Daniel Farris, and the Austin, Texas band The Octopus Project. Our goal is to eventually record sections of these random sound symphonies and become the first music venue to put out its own record. Check out what auditory reactions the club is making anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thank you for participating.
